The international Irish Fly fair has concluded. Enormously inspiring for a fly buzzer in cold Norway in November. I didn't know there were so many fly fishers in the whole herd that I've met this weekend. More paying people than at a Norwegian betting league match. There's so much inspiration to get that I'm going to think about feathers and dunes until the ice disappears in May. There are so many talented flybinders around the world that it makes me speechless. Didn't feel like I fooled myself either. Invitation to next year has arrived, so we also want a Trondese lecture (sorry already to my girlfriend and employer... I have to!) It was incredible to share quality time with my Flytying cooperation partner Semperfli with Ann Kitchener and Andy Kitchener and Phillippa Hake. And to finally meet my heroes at Ahrex Hooks with Søren Flarup. Best hooks ever! You can run a horse with a hook 18! Thanks to Stevie Munn for being invited. A wonderful day to remember. If you’re an Irish Fly Fisher or fly tyer, you need to get yourself up to Enniskillen tomorrow for the last day of the show. You won’t regret it. I loved every minute of it Elaine and was proud to be part of it. Long may it continue. The only downside was we didn’t get to see you. Just got back to Tenerife from a unforgettable trip to Enniskillen, tying and representing Semperfli at The Irish Fly Fair this weekend. The venue was first class, the hotel was unbelievable, the people that came over to talk to me were terrific, the compliments re my flys and Facebook posts truly humbled me. The event was buzzing the whole weekend.
If you live in Ireland, fly fish and tye flys and did not come to the show, you really did miss out on a first-class event. I need to thank several people who went above and beyond the call of duty. I can’t thank them enough. Stuart Wylie, who came back from Belfast this morning at 5.30am to get me to the airport, Mark Robinson who gifted me a pair of Kopter Scissors, Andy and Ann Kitchener, for picking me up from Manchester Airport after my flight to Belfast, had been cancelled, my adopted niece Phillippa Hake for being a good egg, and Stevie, and Elaine Munn for inviting me and organising the fantastic event.

Back home for the last few hrs with the big fella, still buzzing from one of the best weekends in 4yrs the Irish Fly Fair in Enniskillen. I also met some folk for the 1st time which was lovely. 3 special guys dropped by 2 heart transplant recipient and 1 kidney, thanks just for a chat who never met me to talk fishing and smarties. Can honestly say I had a great weekend at the IRISH FLY FAIR in Enniskillen. It was an honour to tie alongside such experienced and generous fly Tyers, learned something new every day. Massive thanks to Stevie, Elaine and their team for getting the show put together….the work gone into this behind the scenes must have been enormous, seriously well done.
I was lucky enough to tie next to the APGAI tables where Trevor Greene, Arthur Greenwood, Joe Stitt and team ran the Peter O’Reilly tying competition for kids and also got kids tying flies for the first time. Listening to their step-by-step teaching and encouragement of the future tyers was fantastic, well done APGAI. A final personal thanks from me to David Lloyd and Faye Bailey at Vicuña Dubbing for their support and to all my Facebook friends who stopped by and said hello, was great to finally meet in person.

An absolutely ace weekend at the Irish Fly Fair in Enniskillen last weekend, it was great to catch up with so many people that I hadn’t seen in a while, while it was real privilege to have been invited to tie on fly-tyers row, I was also very lucky to be sat next to two real gents in Frank Moors and Bjarni Jonsson from Iceland both exceptionally gifted fly-tyers, Frank tying traditional salmon patterns and Bjarni tying very small salmon patterns for Icelandic salmon, very interesting to watch their differing styles and listen to them telling me about their fishing adventures, big thanks to Stevie and Elaine for a great show, it’s fair to say the Guinness was flowing well over the weekend too! Gareth Foley the Guiness went down well thanks mate, the evenings simply great craic, it was ace to catch up with family to a BIG thank you to Stephen and Denise for putting us up and taxiing us around, I would also like to thank Fabian for the images he took over the weekend simply fantastic.
