Mark McLoone - Fly Dresser - Ireland I spoke to the young lad who won the tying competition when he came to speak to the great Frankie McPhillips. His face was bursting with pride, and so it should be. Lovely, polite lad who I have no doubt will be a great himself. Well done lad, class stuff!

Katharina Fugger - Arcticsilver Innovation - Norway

Arrived home late last night from a weekend in Galway, Ireland. What a fantastic and humbling experience it was tying flies at the incredible Irish fly fair. I met some incredible fly tiers and some incredible people that said some very kind things about me, my fly tying creations and my teaching. It really was humbling to hear. I met some old friends and made new ones. I was offered fishing and advice. How wonderful is that. I have to thank Andy and Ann Kitchener for the Invite, and adding me to the Semperfli pro team. Stevie Munn for putting the show on. Jerry Lee for chauffeuring me about and Colin Folan who said some very kind things that I will never forget.

I just love every aspect of the event, the balance of trade stands and things that do is just perfect. You are a great speaker and ambassador for fly fishing. I have been coming to the show before I started working on the APGAI Ireland junior fly tying competition. So speaking as both a punter and an exhibitor can I just echo the comments above about the excellence of the show. It brings together a superb line up of material / equipment traders, tackle traders, fly tyers, casting instructors and fishing destination hosts. But best of all we get to meet each other - friends old and new. Thanks to you and your team. Roll on number 10.

Peter Turner - Visitor to The Irish Fly Fair – Comment for Andrew Hogg
I really enjoyed your talk on lough fishing in Scotland, and the short film was absolutely outstanding and inspiring … should be shown to every school in the country.

Brian Burnett - Fly Dresser – Scotland
I would like to thank you for the invitation to the 2018 Irish Fly Fair. It was a very enjoyable two days and it was especially pleasing to see so many young people, I believe this makes your fair extra special and unique as the younger angler/fly dresser seems to be missing or in low numbers at many other fairs. I always enjoy interacting with the people who attend your show as many are very traditional and knowledgeable in the use of the old trout flies and materials, something I find extremely refreshing and invigorating. I trust you are both recovering from the hard work you put into organising and delivering a superb event. I definitely appreciate all the work and friendly attitude of your entire fair team.

Feedback Exhibitors & Trade Stands & Fly Dressers 11th & 12th November 2017

Ken Whelan - As usual .....wonderful show Stevie and Elaine!...it just keeps getting better and better!! We all greatly appreciate the huge effort that goes into organising the IFF. Mind that back so that we can be sure of having you fully fit for the madness that will be 2018!

Glenda Powell - Many thanks to Stevie Munn Elaine Munn, mummy Munn and to all who helped to make the Irish Fly Fair a great show again this year. It is always a pleasure to be a part of it and I really enjoyed meeting everyone at the show and taking part in the Fly Casting demonstrations.

Albert Titterington - The Great Game Fairs of Ireland/ Irish Countrysports and Country Life magazine had a very successful weekend at the Irish Fly Fair in Galway meeting readers and ... public and trade customers. We think that our efforts in getting out to promote our products is why our events are the top countrysports events in Ireland and our magazine the most read ever Irish countrysports magazine. Irene was delighted to present APGAI Ireland with a cheque towards the great work they do in promoting angling to the young.

Jason O Riordan - Brilliant show. Great craic meeting everyone. You did a monumental job Stevie Munn

Walter Bayer - Outlaw Flyfisher want to thank not only Stevie Munn and Elaine Munn as well as the whole amazing Team but also all the Casters, Fly Dressers, Traders and also every single one who stopped at our stall chatting with us and supporting us. We had an amazing weekend and we are already looking forward to the next show in 2018. For us this show is like a big family meeting. Thank you all again and we hope to see you soon again.

Jim Lees - Heading in to work after what was the biggest and best Irish fly fair so far. Brilliant weekend full of happy people, made a few new friends and caught up with a lot of old ones, what more could you want? Huge thanks to all the other tyers, the casters, the stand holders the guys giving the talks and not least all the fantastic visitors it was such a pleasure to talk to over the weekend. Everyone there makes this show what it is. The team, of which I'm proud to be a small cog, are getting slicker and slicker every year and do an unbelievably efficient job, and at the head of that two generations of the Munn family spend the whole year putting in a ton of work that makes it easier for everyone else to start off running and be the smooth running team they are.
This is now, probably has been for a few years actually, one the biggest top drawer fly fishing events in the whole of Europe. You have built this. No one can do anything like that without help, which you're always at pains to point out Stevie, but no team can do this without the kind of people at the top that folk want to help and work with. An important point that can't be overstated. Well done mate. Give yourself a pat on the back, we'll maybe not a pat on the back right now...... Stick to a smile of satisfaction and a few weeks in bed.

Frede Hognestad - Just back home in Norway. 2 days travel each way to get to Galway.... worth every second!! Big thanks to the team behind the IFF!! A great show and lovely to meet you all. Always nice to see old and new friends with the same interest .... Will be back !! You know Stevie, I thought I had seen the best of fly fairs come and go. Really, in the states they're all but lost. However, your event is the jewel shining brilliant in the slightly tattered crown of what was. The place, the people - all great, even your battered self, made me feel welcome and at ease. Thanks again, my very best to you, Elaine, your very lively mum and all the boys!

Steve Silverio USA. Legendary weekend had at IFF 2017 and my thanks to all who came up to say hello and support us ...! Big thanks to all the crew at IFF under a severely buckled and dogged " never stop for anything" Stevie you put on the best fly fishing show of the year. Scott Mackenzie https://www.mackenzieflyfishing.com/
Maurice Gofish - As usual the IFF lived up to its fine reputation! The best show by far in terms of organisation ...friendless ... and the sheer amount of talent which it gatherers each and every year.!! A show for fly-fishers designed by fly-fishes! Miss IFF at your peril.!! Glad to say I've been to each and every one so far and I've no intention of changing that pattern. One big family under one big roof and I'm very very proud to be a part of it! ❤
Wayne McGee - We just finished up a great weekend at the Irish Fly Fair in Galway! Thanks to all those that came by the stand to explore opportunities to come fish Alaska at Alaska Trophy Adventures Lodge on the Wild Alagnak River! Hope to see you soon on the river! www.atalodge.com/

Damien O'Brien - On behalf of GAIA, our team that attended the fair and myself, I want to firstly congratulate you and all the team for a fantastic show. The hard work that is continually put in year after year to make this such a successful event, was very evident, even from the moment we arrived in the car park on Friday morning where we were immediately offered assistance by two of the team. The slickness of the operation was clear to see, everyone knew where they needed to be and were available at all times. I was amazed at the attention we were given by your team and to see a friendly face appearing in the doorway every now and again to see if we needed anything and to check if we were alright was amazing. In short, we were made to feel very welcome and a part of the show. Any business would be proud to have your team working with them and they are a great asset.

On a personal note, this has been about my fifth time attending the show but to be part of it his year was a special experience. This event is a privilege to attend and it was an honour to be a part of it. Meeting so many like minded people over the two days who get the same adrenaline rush the minute we talk about fishing, ensured that this past weekend will be one to remember for sure. I really do hope that in some small way our attendance was of benefit to the show and we can not thank you enough for the opportunity to be part of the fair.

Just dropping you a note to say thanks for letting me into the fair last weekend. It was a great weekend and very well organised, a credit to all your hard work was the amazing amount if people that came to the show. I am definitely interested in booking a stall for next year and am looking forward to it already. I am a fairly new business and it has giving me a real boost and great exposure. Peter Driver - Piscari-fly - www.piscari-fly.com

Once again, the fly dressing team of APGAI Ireland was delighted to be invited to assist in the running of The Junior Fly Tying Competition at the Irish Fly Fair in Salthill, Galway. We took great pleasure in accepting and it was so encouraging for us to see many previous entrants from past years coming along to show off their skills and very gratifying to see how much they have continued to improve their techniques. Of course, many entrants were new to the competition and we hope that we may have sown the seeds of a lifetime's fascination with the art of fly dressing. By giving them this opportunity, The Irish Fly Fair is investing in the future of Irish angling and in particular, fly dressing. You and all the Fly Fair Team deserve great credit for highlighting this aspect of the Fair.

I'd like to say a few words of appreciation for the generosity of those who gave prizes and gifts to all the entrants, in particular to Veniard's who provided each competitor with a valuable 'goodie bag' of fly tying materials as well as offering the main prizes on both days of the competition. Also to Partridge for donating the hooks, to Brian Burnett, Frankie McPhillips and the Irish Disabled Fly Fishing Association who presented us with additional prizes. The Irish Fly Fair stands head and shoulders above any other of its type and we in APGAI Ireland wish you every success in the future. - Arthur Greenwood Secretary, APGAI Ireland

Bent Arild Mathiesen - Fly Dresser - On our way back home. A big big thank you to Stevie and Elaine Munn for having me at this Excellent fly fair. Will be back next year for sure.

Paul Lawrence Fly Dresser - Not only was it the best show I have ever had the privilege to tie at, it was the best show I have ever been to. Coming together in a Hotel in Galway with a number of like minded and talented tyers, both socially and professionally was something only dreams are made of. To top it off, as the Rookie, the love (ok maybe slightly overkill) the warmth and welcome I received from both your professional team and visitors to the show was simply awesome.

Owen Trill - Fly Dresser - Fantastic weekend gone by looking forward being there next year!! Hats of to you and all who organises it, brillant team work

Roy Ole L. Jakobsen - Fly Dresser - Back to Norway and the white winterland after a great weekend in Galway and the Irish Flyfair. Thank you for letting me being a part of the fly tying row this year. A weekend with top people, great food, wonderful fly tying, lots of inspiration. It has been a superb show. Lots of memories have been born.

Aidan Pubz Curran - Fly dresser - A huge thanks to the crew at the fly fair for looking after me and Dominic . You all done a great job of making the fly fair run so well.

Gayle Marsh - What a great weekend at Irish Fly Fair huge congratulations to Stevie Munn, Elaine Munn and their hard working team who make this show a great success. I think we all agree that this years show was one of the best. It was great to catch up with old friends and make new ones who share a passion for fly tying and fishing. Some great memories here...

On behalf of APGAI Ireland we would like to thank the organisers of the Irish Fly Fair for their invitation to assist in organising the Junior Fly-dressing Competition again. To say we were overwhelmed with the enthusiasm of the young entrants would be an understatement. You provide such an excellent platform for us to introduce young people to the craft of fly-dressing and the standard of their skills seems to increase each year, making it more difficult for the judges to choose the winners - not a criticism by the way, rather an endorsement of the opportunities for youngsters to participate and improve! Also a big thank-you to Veniard's for supplying all the prizes on Saturday and Sunday and for ensuring that each and every entrant went away with a superb 'goodie bag' of fly tying materials - I'm certain that they will remember their day in Galway for a long time. What a great Show - how do you manage to make it better every year? Hope we can be of assistance to you once more in 2017. Arthur Greenwood APGAI Ireland

We had a fantastic weekend at the Irish Fly Fair in Galway at the weekend, massive thanks to all for your support. Let's 'Get the Rods Out' in 2017 Back home after an excellent weekend at the Irish Fly Fair 2016. As always it was great to catch up with friends old and new and share our interest in this wonderful sport. The show was very professionally run and presented by Stevie and Elaine Munn and thier army of staff, great trade stands and some world class demonstrators. As allways its very hard to pick out a couple of highlights. Personally speaking, I very much enjoyed meeting and talking to a young visitor to the show - Fergal Collery who at 18 is already a very accomplished tier of salmon flies. I think he is one to watch for the future, he is already at competition winning standard The other, was seeing a box of superbly tied traditional and little known Welsh flies, tied by John Williams The patterns taken from Emrys Evans book, Plu Stiniog. Certainly something you don't see every day, I forgot to put a memory card in my camera so no photos :-( But whatever everyone took away from the show, exhibitor or visitor, the whole experience was superb. Paul Slaney

Well, the Irish Fly Fair in Galway over the weekend was a huge success; my thanks to Caroline my lovely wife for being there with me to promote our wonderful 'Beat' Gairha, she worked tirelessly as always; to Stevie and Elaine Munn, plus all the team who set all this up; Maurice Cahill, who sent so many people over to our Gairha Fishing Stand from his McKenzie Rods Stand, Adaire Springs, a smashing guy who, I hope will be using Gairha to promote our fishing and the great McKenzie Name; to the Galway Bay Hotel, which hosted this great event, very friendly staff, nothing was too much trouble for them, food was good and the rooms, very comfortable; lastly, the staff who assisted us setting up and helping to bring our promotional items onto our stand. Next year, if Stevie is doing this again and I'm sure he will be, I'll definitely be there. Ralph Tindal

Charles Jardine Well, after a delightful day at the show in Galway - and thank you everyone for standing in the draughty conditions watching this old chap throw fly lines about. Also seeing some very dear and old friends (who did remind me that there was fishing in Ireland, too). I have just had one of the better meals in recent times. O'Grady's On the Pier, was the place. A culinary masterpiece. Halibut with Mussels in a delicate sun-blushed tomato sauce...sounds overblown - in reality, put together by angels. Fabulous. If you like fish and great food put together well, with service that is attentive but not overbearing ...this place is a must. No: really, it is. — at O'Gradys on the Pier Restaurant

Jim Lees Well done to Stevie Munn for organizing another great show, everybody at the table did their bit, as did a couple of others like Elaine Munn who didn't make it out for the meal, but its Stevie’s baby. He brings it all together, takes all the risks and puts a lot of hard work in all year in preparation for a weekend we all get to enjoy.

Well done Stevie, shows getting better every year. Paula Smyth

We are home from Galway where we attended and worked at the Irish Fly Fair & International Angling show on the Funky Fly Tying Stand. Both Andy and I had a top weekend and met up with some top people. For me personally it was great to finally meet Toby Merigan owner of Funky Fly Tying and a real pleasure helping out and

working on his stand both days. Well done to all of the organizer’s of the show for putting on such a great event. Don (a visitor to the show)

I thouroughly enjoyed my day and will be back again next year all going well. Congrats on an excellent show:) Paddy Keenan

We at NSFAS "No salmon Farms At Sea" would like to thank all on the team of the Irish Fly Fair for giving us the opportunity to voice our concerns on the issues and impact that these salmon farms at sea are having on our wild fish stocks. For our group to receive so many positive comments and compliments on our powerpoint presentation and the work we are doing to protect the sport of angling in this island was very rewarding. For those of you that may have missed our presentation we are now asking all angling clubs across the island to host an information night and invite all local TD's and MLA's to attend and our group will deliver our powerpoint on the night.

Trevor Jones - As the old cliche goes, SIMPLY THE BEST etc, a total pleasure from start to finish, but, most importantly the knowledge and expertise available to visitors was second to none, AMAZING, Casting instructors, Flytyers, retailers all contributed to a superb 2013 Irish Fly Fair. No matter what level of experience visitors had, help and advice was readily available to all, congratulations to everyone involved.

  • The Irish Fly Fair visitor’s numbers grow for third successive year! The third Irish Fly Fair 2012 was an unqualified success with an increased number of visitors compared to previous years.

Visitors from all over the world who flocked to the Show were delighted with the superb quality of Fly-Tiers, Fly-Casters and Exhibitors who attended the show and the buzz was maintained throughout the two days.

World Fly-Casting Champions Hywel Morgan and Glenda Powell amazed visitors with their skills, which they readily passed on in subsequent free public tuition sessions. They were ably assisted by some of Ireland’s top Casting Instructors from APGAI Ireland including their newly appointed President and well-known angling author Peter O’Reilly.

The new Junior Fly-tying Competition organised by APGAI Ireland Instructors was a great success and many exhibitors generously donated some valuable prizes – in fact, every entrant walked away with a gift! The visiting Pro Fly-dressers commented on the quality of the Junior entries. Every room was packed with over 60 fly-tiers who attended from all over the world.

There was a fascinating series of seminars delivered by some of Ireland’s top experts including Dr. Ken Whelan Noel Carr FISSTA ,Dr Roderick O’ Sullivan, Tom Doc Sullivan, Anne Woodcock fishpal and Dr. Joe Cafferty. In the Fly-dressing Theatre, some of the visiting fly-dressers demonstrated their skills on camera on the large screen in order that the big crowds could watch their techniques in detail.

The exhibitors commented on the large number of visitors and all were more than happy with their sales over the two days. Everyone who attended the Show remarked upon the excellent quality of tackle and materials on display.

Given the hugely positive feedback received by the organisers in such a short space of time after the Show, they have agreed to run the event again next year and dates for the Irish Fly Fair 2013 will be announced shortly.

We would like to thank the sponsors of the event .

Well! What can I say, Stevie Munn and Gerry Teggart have done it again. In my opinion this must be classed as one of the best fly fairs in Europe, not only is the venue first class, the quality of the show was second to none. World class tyres from around the world, fantastic trade stands and brilliant fly dressing tuition from A.P.G.A.I Ireland and Partridge. I will certainly be booking again for next year,it is a venue I would not miss for the world. Well done lads five star rating from me.

Guys and girls, It was again a fantastic show, a credit to all of you who did your bit, we as tyers appreciate, that NO fair could happen without all you unsung guys setting things up, and, ultimately making things easy for all the traders and us tyers, all of YOU are the real stars of the show, Stevie, please pass on my regards to all your team, and thank you, it is brilliant to be part of Galway, long may the fair continue.

Rocky Dr. Rockwell Hammond, Jr USA
Made it home in one piece. I want to thank you for the invite. Had a great time with such a talented group of tiers. I feel I should hone my skills a bit more to keep up. But most importantly is the graciousness they all exude. WOW!! What talent. Once again, thank you for including with this group of exquisite tyers and wish you all the best.

Once again Galway is over. It was a wonderful experience for me. The atmosphere was very special. I loved meeting old friends and making a few new ones. I really enjoyed showing off my fly dressing techniques to anyone who stopped by.....that is what the show is all about for me.....and I got lots of opportunity to do that. It was great to meet you again and to make acquaintance with all your 'helpers. They were great. I am looking forward to Galway 2013 already ;-)

Its time to say:" a huge thank you "Ireland, the irish People in Galway, the Visitors, the friendly people!, the Wine Bar down town! ... it was the most impessived Fair in my life!!! dead sure :-) , it was amazing to meet so much nice and crazy fly-people like: Roy Christie &, Frances Davies, Harald &,Chris Sandfort &, Sue Billows, Toby Merigan, Paddy McDonnell, Wolly &, Paul Morgan, Christina Tooley, Trevor Jones, the fair Team ... and all the other guys!!! ... and? my biggest thanx goes to you Stevie! you are a perfect host! and maybe next year back again ? hopefully :-) and sorry for my bad English ;-) What can I say the show was an absolute success, accommodation was brilliant, the layout of the event was second to none and what really blew the fly dressers away was the way we were treated to the buffet and on the Sunday the sandwiches. This kind gesture was noticed and appreciated by all.

    Lawrence Finney
This is definitely an established show from now on and I would even go to say it is a quality show. Stevie Munn excelled himself by being part of a professional team and I for one would like to thank each one of you for an excellent event. It would be an honour to be considered for the next one. Once again thanks for a brilliant show.

I thought the layout was clear concise, I liked the fly dressers up stairs, there was lots of light and a welcoming site as you walked into the show. Downstairs all tackle suppliers in one room with services around the venue I think worked very well. The lecture room could have been signed posted. I thought Grace did an exceptional job. Grace chatted with enthusiasm about the show. Everyone who worked at the show was friendly and helpful... Regards Anne Fishpal England P.S. as always Stevie you were a star...well done x

Hi Stevie, Grace, Hugh, Geraldine, and everyone else I forgot We want to thank you for a really good organised show, we had a great time, and everything was perfect. We really hope that this show is going on for next year. YOU ALL DID A GREAT JOB. Thank you for taking such good care of us. We know that you all must be very exhausted now, so take some well-deserved rest, if you can. Thanks again for everything. All our love, Riny and Johanna Holland

All my best and thank for a wonderful weekend. For me the highlight of the show was an 11 year old boy named Paddy Bird from Ballincar Co.Sligo. He stood at our table for the whole day on Saturday. He was a joy and his enthusiasm was infectious. Put simply, he was in awe of the whole event. We took him under our wings and passed on some tying tips. He told us he had a 100 euro to spend on materials so we got him some good deals and advised him on what to buy. My good friend Joe McDonald (another tier at the show) handed him a Jungle cock cape and told him to keep it. His eyes lit up as if Santa had arrived early. He returned first thing on Sunday morning at our tying bench again for 15 minutes before he went back home to Sligo. When I asked him would he like to tie at the show next year his jaw dropped and in his innocence he asked me if he would have to take a test to tie at the show next year. I smiled and told him that he had already passed. I took his details and chatted to his father who thanked us both profusely. To see the joy in that boys face as he left for home with thoughts of flies and coin bright salmon racing through his vains, is for me what these shows are about. To sum it up, it’s handing it to a young boy or girl and passing it to the fly fishing stars of tomorrow is what makes these shows such great events. A wise man once said if we really knew the joy of giving we would not let anyone pass us by without giving them something.

The show was a great success. The crowds kept on coming and the flow of people was constant throughout the two day event. Young and old came together as one. Hugh Bonner of Mara Media said” It surpassed our expectations" It was a terrific show with some real quality tiers, Casters & stands."It was a really good venue and we we love Galway" judging on the success of this event we plan on making "The Irish Fly Fair” an annual event on every ones calendar.

Stevie Munn, "The tiers at the show really enjoyed the people and commented that they were made feel most welcome to the West of Ireland". "So pleased were they that they all vowed to return next year." Punters took their families down for the weekend. They travelled from Belfast to Cork and from Sligo to Dublin. Talking to one of the Tackle shop stands. They said "It was their our best weekend this year. "People had their lists and bought what they needed". What a great weekend it was!" "We'll be back next year".

The future of Fly fishing is in good hands. "We can't wait till next year’s show which can only get better and better as time goes on". I would like to thank everyone and especially the tiers Casters, & exhibiters for their time and most of all I would like to thank you the people who made the event possible" and to you Danny for all your help. All my best, Declan Ireland

Well done on the show it was brill. Have been to the British one and not a patch on this. Enjoyed the weekend. The best show I have ever been at…… Regards Mike.

Dear Hugh and Grace Just a brief note to congratulate you, Stevie and all the team on an excellent event in Galway this weekend! I trust it lived up to your expectations. Regards Ken Prof Ken Whelan Research Director Atlantic Salmon Trust

Hi Stevie Thanks for the invite to the Fair, I thought it was one of the best events, indoor or outdoor, to be held in Ireland this year. I was worked off my feet doing free tying lessons for kids and beginners and also individual help 'sessions' with amateur fly-dressers. Their feedback was extremely positive. I reckon the attendance and enthusiasm indicated that there is a definite need for this event in the West of Ireland. Too often these events are on the East coast or in the Midlands. I wish the organisers and yourself every success in the future and sincerely hope that the event will run again in Galway next year Arthur Ireland

Dear Stevie, The show was good. Mara Media did well to find the customers and looked after us all extremely well. The trade stands were of a high standard. The tyers were all interesting, sociable and friendly. Rock on. David England

Hi Stevie, I send you a big thank you for the wonderful weekend in Galway. I had a fantastic time meeting old friends and making new ones. It was heartening to see so many people attending the show. I have since spoken to some of my friends who were there and the word is, it was a resounding success. The venue was just perfect. I am looking forward to 2011 already Many thanks to you and all your team. You all did a wonderful job. Kind regards, Alice Ireland

Stevie Very good show. Well done. best regards, Sam

Dear Stevie and the whole Irish Fly Fair Team, Thanks for organising such a great show. It was a pleasure to be part of it and I hope you will organize the show again. Keep up the good work Best regards Paul Van De Sande

It was a really great weekend, meeting old friends and making new ones. I want to thank you for the invite and everything was well organised and want to thank you and Grace for that and all the others who have put all their free time into this great weekend. If there is a next one I will be glad with an invitation...if you want me to come..... Thanks again and see you soon somewhere!! All the best, Greets André Miegies

Was at the show on Saturday with friend Andrew Mc Gall who was tying salmon flies up stairs. Andrew was down from Belfast so bunked up with me in Oughterard. Displayed a few perch poppers, pike streamers and SW flies and the like up stairs and thought the standard of tying on display from all the lads was both diverse and exceptional in quality.

The show was fantastic and and a testament to the organisers including Stevie Munn, The boys from Irish Angler and Mara Media. Knowing so many of the people in Angling circles North and South of the border it was great just to float around all day and catch up with familiar faces. Great to catch up with Stevie Munn and thoroughly enjoyed his presentation... really nice guy and all round angling talent in the flesh, god he knows his stuff, Fishing in Ireland and Canada, Casting, Tying History, class act.

Overall a day of goodwill and a festive atmosphere... it did the heart allot of good to see people in the west for a few hours smile, laugh and forget the harsh times we now find ourselves in down here. Long may the show continue! I thought the stands like Celtic Fly Craft and the likes were just heaven for big kids! To all the lads I might have missed saying hello to on here including Seanie and JJ my apologies by the time I watched the Irish Samoa game at the bar I needed a name tag just to remember my own name. Regards, Brent. NZ

Ireland needed a good show and that one was certainly the pick of them in 2010. it had everything you want if your into Fly Fishing with guys like Hywel Morgan, Stevie Munn for questions on fishing and casting, maybe two of the best all rounder's in the game, Some of the world best fly tyers, a very good mix, talks and great trade stands, so glad it’s going to happen again in 2011, nice to see a good turn out as well for the traders. Co-Founder of the S.S.F.D We will be there again with Cookshill - thought it was a great show Steve Cooper

Hi Stevie, I’m writing this belated email from Spain to where I rapidly retreated after the Galway Fair. But I have no problem in telling you that Betty and I really enjoyed the whole week end and, indeed, all aspects of the Fair. It was first class in every respect and the hotel also did us proud. We particularly enjoyed having our daughter, son-in-law and grandson to share the week end with us.

From the fly tying viewpoint, it really was excellent. You rounded up a very good cross section of tyers with differing styles and I particularly enjoyed the social interaction with the others and of course with the paying visitors, most of whom were genuinely interested. The venue in the conservatory area was also very appropriate with of course excellent natural light. And, even though we had known each other’s names and had passed “like ships in the night” in the past, it was a pleasure to finally catch up with you and have some good chat. Please pass on my congrats to Hugh and to all your colleagues who participated in the organising side and I for one look forward to it becoming an annual fixture in the calendar of the Irish angling community. And I saw that Derek Evans gave the Fair a nice write up in The Irish Times today! Very best regards from Betty and me Michael

    Jim Lees Scotland
Congratulations on the show, from the viewpoint I had in the conservatory it seemed to be a huge success. I knew Ireland was a country with fishing in its blood but for the first year of the event I had no idea that yourself, Grace and the others involved could have created something so special. The visitors attending went a long way to making it such a great weekend as well, they were great to talk to and very interested in the diversity of the tyers. I feel very lucky indeed to have been involved and would not hesitate to come back if given the chance. Look forward to seeing you again.
