Irish Fly Fair

Desmond Paul (Dessie) to everyone who knows me. I have been fishing and tying flies for over 50 years now. Starting on my local Agivey river and then progressing into lough fishing, and it is lough flies that I now concentrate my tying on. I love to get out on the big Irish loughs and get great pleasure catching trout on my flies and even greater pleasure seeing other anglers be equally successful. I’m part of the Vicuña Dubbing pro team and I’m proud to to be associated with this great brand. I’ve always looked forward to attending the Irish Fly Fair as a customer and its fantastic that I’ve got the opportunity to display my tying at this year’s event.

I started tying Trout and Salmon flies in my early teens, getting advice from Bert Atkins uncle Jim Stewart ... he knew what he wanted in a shrimp fly and his knowledge has stayed with me ever since. I continue to tie traditional flies, mainly Lough flies. 

I’m looking forward to a great show, it’s a great opportunity to share both my tying and fishing experience, especially with young anglers and tyers.
