Born in Reykjavik, Iceland 1966. It is every fisherman’s paradise to live in Iceland and I quickly realised. Infected by fishing disease at the age of 6 and still dealing with it. Started tying flies at the age of 18 and got heavily into it. Worked as a professional fly tyer for two years, 1993-4, making salmon flies for tackle shops in Reykjavik. Back in those days you could make a living from it.
I have been teaching the art of fly tying for years, both for beginners and for those who want to follow the footsteps of the masters and make classic salmon flies of feathers.
Twice a national champion of fly tying in Iceland. Nowadays I make several hundreds of flies over the year, mainly for my own fishing but also special orders for friends and customers who ask for it.
I have been a part time professional guide at salmon and trout fishing in Iceland for about 30 years. Guiding in different rivers all over the playground, mainly concentrating on the northern part of Iceland in recent years, the Vididalsa and the ION fishing in lake Thingellir. My main interest in tying is hair wing Atlantic salmon flies for fishing along with nymphs and dries for the Icelandic fauna.
