I am Ashley Strutt based in Malmesbury, Wiltshire, UK. I am 48 and began tying flies when I was 12 with a basic kit from my grandparents. From that point on I proceeded to teach myself the art of fly tying with the aid of books and magazines (the internet wasn't available at the time).
I have fished across most of the UK, Cape Cod and the Adirondack region of the USA, Ireland (mostly Loughs Sheelin, Mask and Corrib) and Slovenia. These travels have further expanded my tying knowledge with influences from other tyers and fishing situations along the way.
This has given me good excuses to come up with experimental patterns that work according to the conditions and hatches encountered. I have a great interest in experimenting with new materials and techniques.
This will be my first visit to the Irish game fair and look forward to meeting new people.
