It only takes a child a minute to learn the SAUSAGE ROLL CAST using a real mini fly rod, flyline and fluff. A fun chance to see that fly casting is easy and maybe win a prize.
Our children's coaches work as volunteers at the Northern Counties Angling Hub at Straid. Families and vulnerable adults are at the core of their work with a strong emphasis on promoting the mental health benefits of angling.
About Ray McKeeman
Ray is a Master Casting Instructor with Fly Fishers International and Advanced Single Handed Certificate with APGAI Ireland. A passion for teaching drives him to help anglers of all levels.
Ray began fly fishing for trout on his local 'wee Agivey' in Aghadowey. A life long angler he works full time managing Straid Fishery in Co Antrim, teaching and demonstrating fly casting.
Ray holds Master Casting Instructor qualification with Fly Fishers International and Advanced Game Angling with APGAI Ireland, both in single handed.
When teaching, his motto is: 'Make it simple, make it fun!' This is the foundation for how he structures all his fly casting teaching - beginners, improvers or 'oldies'. All his students learn the Sausage Roll Cast and knowing how to ' wiggle' is a must!
