Hello, my name is GEERT WERBROUCK ... I am 67 years old and I am a 'all-round' flytyer from Belgium. I started flyfishing and tying my flies 'autodidact' in the beginning of the seventies. Fished myself in 1982 Belgium Champion on river and did during a short couple of years on competitive flyfishing on the still waters. I am not afraid to bring over that I was for years and years in a row a complete 'zero' in my fly tying ... a bit the 12th wheel on the wagon in 'our' friendship fly tying club over here the 'FLY TYERS CLUB OF FLANDERS'.

With my two motivational words in my 'life' and my 'flyfishing' and 'fly tying' which are: CONTINUE AND NEVER GIVE UP ... it started to go better with my fly tying in the mid-nineties. When I became 50 years old in 2008, I took up still the goal to learn to tie a decent looking classic salmon fly. With a lot of perseverance, I arrived at that goal.

In the meantime, I was five times at the Danish Fly Festival and five times at the SIM Fly Festival in Italy as guest fly tier. I was also three times at the Atlantic Salmon Fly International abroad in the United States and last year in 2024 in Canada. I must confess that I lost a bit of my drive to tie the classic salmon flies in 2016, but not my love for them.

I will never ever loose my 'roots' for targeting brown river trout as well as our European grayling and so also tying DRY flies and WET flies. In 2017 my American friend DALE DARLING published a little book about my flies: 'Creative GEWE Wet Flies'. Anyway, I would call myself a 'all-round' fly tier. I think I will be tying 'some' of my 'creative winged wet flies at the show as well some hair wing salmon flies - no 'classics' salmon flies unfortunately.

I am looking forward to the show and meeting new tiers as well catching up with the friends who already know me.
