Who we are and what we do:

“The rise of angling development in Co, Donegal and the North-West corner.”


Foyle River-catchment Outdoor Group (FROG CIC) Group was officially established in January 2021. The creation of the group came about after many years of voluntary angling workshop deliveries across the Foyle catchment. A number of highly committed individuals from different community development backgrounds had been delivering an unstructured series of angling development works, stretching back over two decades. It was quite obvious, that a recognisable body within the community/third sector required implementation to advance and improve angling instruction and outdoor environmental educational needs.

The Group has 23 angling coaches from across the North-West, who are committed to the strategic development of the group and angling as a whole. At a grassroots community level we average, per year, engagement with over 1000 participants in our angling introduction workshops. We are fully committed to providing all-inclusive deliveries to youth, female and disabled participants and groups, to assist all in their angling development journey, be that into competition angling or as a leisurely pastime.

Over the last two years we have struck up a solid relationship with the Rossiver Fishery Group. With their help we now run the largest youth angling group in the country. The World Youth Lough Open (WYLO) has become a major success storey for youth angling and is set to become a main fixture within the angling competition scene. The competition has been well supported by businesses and Sharpes of Aberdeen are the main sponsors of the event.
