“Fly fishing has so many facets that need to be discovered and explored.” Email: info@abendsprung.de
As a native of Thuringia (Germany), I came to fly fishing in 1985 through an Englishman. A small group of enthusiastic fly fishermen from Thuringia were committed to establishing modern fly fishing more firmly because they wanted to preserve the spirit of John Horrocks. John Horrocks, himself an Englishman, brought modern fly fishing from Thuringia to German-speaking countries 200 years ago and lived here until the end.
At some point, the time came for me to improve my own casting in order to reach tricky and complicated fish locations and then lure the fish to my fly.
By attending casting workshops with well-known European fly fishermen and specific training, I managed to pass the EFFA Single Hand Instructor exam with distinction.
I enjoy being on the water, reading it and fish almost exclusively with a dry fly.
My casting style has changed, effective casting and precise presentation of the dry fly even at greater distances have been added.
For me, the attraction lies in luring wild and sensitive fish out of their comfort zone with the dry fly.
As a fly fisherman, everyone comes into contact with the aquatic insect fauna, the main food source for salmonids in Europe. I have been passionate about entomology for several years and have specialized in European mayflies and stoneflies. My research and study areas range from Greece to Albania and the Balkan countries.
I work with scientific institutions in Germany and neighboring countries on the topics of aquatic ecology and advise them on a voluntary basis on issues relating to the sustainable preservation of watercourses in Germany.
My wife, Yvonne, supports me in our fly fishing school and in all my activities. As a fly tyer she uses my research results on insects from the nymph to adult insects as inspiration to her craftmenship. We are both passionate fly fishers and have particularly been attracted to the Balkans with their still intact wild rivers.
What you can expect:
