Irish Fly Fair

My name is Denis Goulding, and I’ve been lucky enough to fish all over Ireland for the past 40 years — from rivers and lakes to ponds and canals. I fish year-round and was introduced to this lifelong passion at a young age by my father. To this day, we often share a boat together.

Over the course of my angling career, I’ve earned 10 International Lough Style caps, had the honour of captaining the Irish Team twice, and in 2022, I was very proud to win the prestigious Brown Bowl on Lough Melvin for Top International Angler. I’ve also claimed Interprovincial and Provincial titles in both Lough Style and Bank competitions — with many more wins along the way. I currently represent Ireland on the Senior Lough Style Irish Team. As you might guess, I thrive on the challenge of competitive fishing.

For over 30 years, I’ve shared my knowledge by teaching fly casting, fly tying, and fly-fishing techniques. I’ve been published in multiple magazines, featured on several podcasts, and am currently the Head Coach of the I.T.F.F.A. Youth Team, who have now won five consecutive Youth Internationals — four of which were fished in the UK.

I’m also very proud to be involved with Wychwood Game as their Irish Ambassador. I am delighted to be going to the Irish Fly Fair Representing Wychwood Game and doing some casting demonstrations and I look forward to meeting you all and showing you the Wychwood products.

I am a full-time fishing guide; the lakes I guide on are based in the midlands. Namely Lough Owel, Lough Lene and Lough Sheelin. I cater for all levels of fly angling from the beginner to the expert. Catering the trip to suit your needs.

I also provide days out for families and those who would like to experience fishing for the first time by trolling or spinning. Pike and Perch trips can also be catered for.
