My name is Andrew Laverty and I’m a fly tyer and salmon fly fisher from the north coast Co. Antrim. I started tying flies when I was 10 or 11 years old and leaned on YouTube from Davie McPhail. I grew up fishing Lough Sheelin with my granda and in more recent years have become more into the salmon fishing. I fish the rivers Mourne, Finn, Roe and closer to home the Agivey.
In recent years I’ve created a few salmon patterns that have been very successful. The most popular being the Polychrome. Last season 2024 it accounted for over 250 Salmon in the UK and Ireland.
I will be tying some bead head salmon flies and double hook flies. Popular patterns for the northwest of Ireland.
I am very grateful to be tying at the Irish Fly Fair as it’s a great show and has lots of world class tyers.
